The Beginning

This is a photo-journal of my garden...well, everything in my yard. This little yard came with a just-the-right-size house where I live with my son, 2 dogs and 1 gecko.

We moved in on February 29, 2008. Other than the usual bushes around a house, it also had a very large square flowerbed in the front yard, and about 8 raised flowerbeds in the backyard. Wish I would have taken some pictures of it BEFORE I took some of them out! We only had a tiny patch of grass. NOT enough for the dogs, so some of the beds had to come out to make room for more grass. Plus, with me working full time, I couldn't possibly take care of so many different gardens.

This bed already had in it: daylillies (1 variety), 3 hollyhocks (each a different color), the little succulent plants that bloom in the sun for only one day (don't know the name), and, as spring progressed, Zinnias. Lots and lots of Zinnias! Oh.. let's not forget the many weeds! But those come with every garden, don't they?

The photo was taken 5/3/08. I had already added 3 yellow Lantana that my sister gave me and some other little yellow flowers from mom's yard. They multiply quickly and will make a nice border in the front. If you look very closely in front of the daylillies, you'll see a small dogwood tree that I brought from Mom and Dad's. Hope it makes it!
